I’m interested in learning more about the online instructional design certificate. Whom should I contact?

How do you ensure quality of instruction?

Instructors are selected based on their knowledge of the subject area and skills in teaching. Course evaluations are used to make improvements and provide feedback. The certificate, courses and instructors are periodically assessed relative to the course learning objectives and outcomes.

I haven’t been in school for years. Is this certificate for me?

UVM wants to support your investigation or pursuit of coursework in instructional design. With a call to our advisors, we can help direct you to sources of information, refer you to the appropriate faculty member, and/or walk you through the process of enrolling at UVM for the first time. We know that the needs of a working professional may be different than those of someone new to a profession, or one who is eager to leave their current position.

How long will it take me to complete the certificate?

The certificate takes 9 weeks to complete.

Will I receive a certificate/digital badge for completion of this certificate?

Yes, you will receive a digital badge through Credly when you successfully complete this certificate.

Do I need to apply?  What are the basic steps?

It is very simple, you just complete the online registration form.  You will receive a confirmation email and about 1-2 weeks prior to the start of the course you will receive your login information.  

Are there any required textbooks that must be purchased for the courses?

No. You will not need to purchase a textbook for either course.

Does this course qualify for UVM employee tuition remission?

No. Non-credit courses do not currently qualify for tuition remission.

Do I need any prior knowledge or are there any prerequisites for the program?

There is no specific coursework required for this certificate. You are required to complete the introductory module before you take the remaining courses.

What are my career options once I complete this program?

With the completion of this certificate, you can apply your new skills to your current position and to a new position in instructional design.

What is the time commitment per week?

5-7 hours per week

Is any part of the instruction synchronous with a group?

All courses are asynchronous. Instructors will coordinate two optional synchronous sessions in each course.
