Do I need any prior knowledge of digital and social selling or are there any prerequisites for the certificate?

If you are new to digital marketing, we would recommend completing our Digital Marketing Fundamentals Certificate prior to enrolling in the Digital & Social Selling Professional Certificate.

Our Specialized Certificates go in-depth into a specific channel. If you have responsibility for selling products or services on the Web, our 10-week special focus Certificate offers the depth required to develop and implement a campaign.

What kind of financial aid is available?

Students in this program may choose to pay out of pocket, or use personal loans to pay for the program.  Additionally, our certificate may be eligible for State Department of Labor workforce development grants.  Contact your State Department of Labor to determine which grants may support individuals seeking education to pursue opportunities for career change. What is a typical schedule like if I enroll in the Digital Marketing: Digital & Social Selling Professional Certificate?

Typically, our modules start mid-week on Wednesday. This allows you to complete your readings on Thursday and Friday, and then gives you time on the weekend to engage in discussions and complete your written assignments. Monday and Tuesday will be a great time for you to continue to refine and edit your assignments before submitting them, and continue participating in the online discussions. We expect that students will spend approximately 4-6 hours per week on assignments, readings, and discussions for each course.

How often is this course offered?

The Digital & Social Selling Professional Certificate is offered in the summer and fall.

What is the weekly time commitment for the course?

Most students spend about 4-6 hours per week on the coursework.

Can the course be taken from anywhere, including outside the US?

Yes!  We love it when we have students from other countries enrolling in our certificate.  Our certificate is 100% online.

What is the Digital Marketing Institute?

The Digital Marketing Institute are the certification body who develop exam content, issue authorization for participants to be able to book a specific exam and provide digital certification to those who successfully pass. The Digital Marketing Institutes testing partner Pearson VUE deliver the exams, administer all bookings and rescheduling, and provide candidates with a printout of their results upon completion of the exam.

What is the payment policy for this program?

All payments must be paid in full two weeks prior to the start of each course. Please note that you will not be able to attend the certificate if a balance is due.  You have the option of paying in full by credit card, or by making a minimum payment of $500 at registration, but you must ensure the balance due is paid two weeks before the certificate begins.  You will receive email reminders if you have a balance due.  Otherwise, if paying by a check or purchase order, these payments can be mailed to:

What is the refund policy for this program?

If you need to cancel your attendance from this offering, you must notify us via email at cdecs@uvm.edu at least 3 days prior to the start date of this offering, to receive a full refund, less a $25 cancellation fee. If a medical condition necessitates cancellation/withdrawal (documentation provided), this will be reviewed by our Studies Committee for any type for a refund.

Pearson VUE Exam (for Registered Students)

How do I register to take the Certified Digital Marketing Specialist – Digital & Social Selling Pearson VUE Exam?

When students register for the Digital & Social Selling Professional Certificate program with the University of Vermont, they will also be registered with Pearson VUE by the Digital Marketing Institute. Students will receive an email from Pearson VUE with their examination ID and instructions on how to book their examination within a few weeks after the end of the Certificate program.  Students can then create their online Pearson VUE account and schedule an exam to take in a test center on their own. Please note: Students will also be able to reschedule or cancel their exam using their online Pearson VUE account. Your exam fee must be paid at the time of booking.

All students have 24 weeks from the completion of their Digital & Social Selling Professional Certificate (as per the start/end dates of your course) to complete their exams, including any potential repeats (2 repeats maximum). Students take their examination at a Pearson VUE test center where they get a printout of their results upon completing the exam. Successful students receive the official Digital Marketing Institute’s Certified Digital Marketing Specialist – Digital & Social Selling certificate in the month following their exam date.

I didn’t get my Pearson VUE confirmation email, what can I do?

The Pearson VUE email is sent to you automatically upon your registration with PVUE. The email contains your Candidate ID which is required to create your account. If you did not receive the email, firstly, check your spam filter – as the emails are sent automatically, they can be blocked by your mail spam filter. If you cannot locate the email, you can look up your Candidate ID here.  Please make sure you use the email address your training provider registered you under. If the system is not recognizing your email address, please contact us at exams@digitalmarketinginstitute.com.

My login details to Pearson VUE doesn’t work, what can I do?

If you do not have a Pearson VUE account for DMI exams: When creating your online account, make sure that you enter your first and last name only and use the Candidate ID (DMI and 6 digits) included in an email from Pearson VUE. If your name contains special characters, try to enter their Latin alphabet equivalents. If you are still experiencing difficulties, please contact Pearson VUE Customer Service.

If you already have a Pearson VUE account for DMI exams: If you can’t remember your login details, you can look up your username and reset your password on the Pearson VUE website. If you can’t remember answers to your security questions or you are having further problems with logging in, please contact Pearson VUE Customer Service.

What is the Pearson VUE Exam eligibility period?

Students must take their examination within 24 weeks from the receipt of exam eligibility confirmation which is usually issued towards the end of their training. However, we recommend that students take their exams within 3-6 weeks from the completion of the course to ensure availability of their preferred test center as well as to allow sufficient time for any potential exam repeats.

Each candidate can take the exam a maximum of 3 times and all repeat exams must be taken within the exam eligibility period. The exam eligibility period of 24 weeks cannot be extended. Should a candidate fail the exam on the first attempt, they can retake the exam a further two times. Second and third exam attempts will incur a re-examination fee.

What to do if the name on Pearson VUE system doesn’t match my ID?

You can use this link to update your name to match your government-issued ID. Please allow at least 3 working days for your details to be updated on the Pearson VUE system

Where do I take the Pearson VUE Exam?

All Digital Marketing Institute’s examinations are delivered and administered through Pearson VUE test centers.  After students receive an email from Pearson VUE with their examination ID and instructions on how to book their examination within a few weeks after the end of the Certificate program.  Students can then create their online Pearson VUE account and schedule an exam to take in a test center on their own.

What date can I schedule my exam for?

It will depend on the availability of your preferred test center. Once you log in to your Pearson VUE account, you will be able to look up nearby test centers and check their availability.

How do I know that I scheduled my exam successfully?

Once your exam is scheduled successfully, you will receive an email confirmation with your appointment details. You will see a scheduled exam under “Upcoming appointments” when you log back in to your online Pearson VUE account.

What are the Pearson VUE Test Center procedures and protocols?

In order to be admitted to take the exam, students must bring a valid ID which must be government-issued and contains both a photograph and a signature.

Student’s first and last name on the ID must match the names under which the student is registered with the University of Vermont’s Digital & Social Selling Professional Certificate, the Digital Marketing Institute, and Pearson VUE. Students must also agree to the exam non-disclosure policy before being admitted to take the exam.

Students should arrive at a scheduled test center 30 minutes before the exam. Those who are more than 15 minutes late for their examination will not be admitted to take the exam.

How can I reschedule or cancel my exam?

You can reschedule or cancel your exam using your Pearson VUE online account, no later than 24 hours before your exam appointment time.

What about Pearson VUE Test Results and Re-Examination?

Following the successful completion of the examination, students will receive a printed unofficial preliminary Score Report from the test center that will show the score achieved on each exam section and an overall pass/fail grade. This is not equivalent to an official certificate. The examination results are validated through certification from the Digital Marketing Institute.

Students who successfully pass the examinations will receive the Digital Marketing Institute certification in a form of a digital certificate. The digital certificate is issued by email to the student directly in the month following the examination. The digital certificate is the only form of a certificate you will receive from the Digital Marketing Institute. You will not be provided with a printed copy but you can print the certificate yourself, if required.

If you didn’t receive your certificate within 60 days from your exam date, please go HERE  and enter the email address you have used for exam registration.
