Online Subject Matter Expert Vet: Companion Animal End-of-Life Doula Professional Certificate

The Companion Animal End of Life Doula Subject Matter Expert Vet role is an important part of our course experience. This Vet Expert provides thoughtful responses to the “Ask the Vet Expert” community discussion board and works with the instructor to offer additional supportive feedback where appropriate.  

Required Qualifications:  

  • Practicing Veterinarian or Vet Tech. Experience in end-of-life animal care.  
  • Applicants must be a graduate of UVM’s course they will be teaching or be willing to take UVM’s that course.  
  • Prior teaching experience is preferred, but a strong desire to educate and share knowledge in a supportive learning environment is also valued.  
  • Professional experience in End-of-Life Doula care is required.  
  • Candidates should have excellent interpersonal and written communication skills and a commitment to UVM’s Our Common Ground values.  
  • Applicants must disclose any current or past employment with the University of Vermont or if they are a current UVM student.  
  • All work must be conducted in the U.S., and applicants must be authorized to work in the U.S. without employer sponsorship.  
  • A background check will be conducted for successful applicants. 
  • Applicants must be able to learn and work effectively in a team environment while demonstrating patience and compassion.  
  • Applicants should understand and respect confidentiality, maintain a positive and calm presence, and be highly organized with attention to detail.  
  • Strong oral and written communication skills are essential. 

Time Commitment: 5-7 hours per week each course 

Salary: Compensation is based on current PACE pay rates. As of 4/10/2025, the Vet Subject Matter Expert facilitates for a 0.78125 Credit Hour Equivalency (CHE), which pays an instructor stipend of $1,875. Subject to change.

Temporary employees are not eligible for University benefits, paid holidays or paid time off.
