Program Cost

The tuition for the Post-Bac Pre-Med Program is based on the number and type of courses you take. For the 2024-2025 academic year, the tuition rate is $678 per credit hour for Vermont residents and $1,780 per credit hour for out-of-state students. The average Post-Bacc Pre-Med student at UVM takes 26 credits during the academic year and 8 in the summer. Keep in mind that additional fees may apply, such as lab fees or textbooks. See up-to-date academic year tuition rates at UVM Student Financial Services.

Financial Aid Opportunities

Students enrolled in the Post-Bacc Pre-Med Program may qualify for federal financial aid, including loans, through the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). You may be eligible for aid if you meet enrollment criteria, including attending at least half-time.

Summer Savings

Choosing to start UVM’s Post-Bacc Pre-Med Program in the summer creates additional savings opportunities. Summer courses through UVM’s Summer U are 30% less than the academic year tuition for most courses. Even better, the first 20 post-bacc students that start in the summer earn one course at UVM free through the Summer Scholarship program.

Scholarships

We understand the challenges of financing education. UVM offers limited scholarships for qualifying post-bacc pre-med students. Scholarships are awarded on a first-come, first-served basis, so we encourage you to apply early to secure funding while it’s available.

Additionally, UVM provides a dedicated Summer Scholarship for students enrolled in summer courses. This scholarship aims to help cover tuition costs for students advancing their studies during the summer term. Eligibility is based on enrollment criteria and course load, and funds are distributed based on availability. Applying early is crucial to maximize your chances of receiving this valuable financial support.

What I noticed about this post-bacc program compared to a few others I was looking at, is how collaborative the environment is. I’ve noticed in my chemistry class this summer, it’s really a team. We all want to help each other and work together, and everyone wants each post-bacc student to succeed. And that is definitely a really important environment to work in when you are trying to apply to a really intense field. Because in the end, medicine is a team sport.”
