About EDSP 1050 A
Students study the effects of discrimination, advocacy, litigation and sociological perspectives on disabilities. History, current legislation, and family issues for children and adults are emphasized.

Only open to CESS first-time first-years or by instructor permission; Colocated with EDSP 1050 ZRA; Total combined enrollment = 160; PACE students by permission and override.
Section Description
This course builds awareness and understanding of the experiences of individuals with disabilities and their families, focusing on school and community experiences. You will be invited to engage in critical self-reflection about your own experiences, beliefs, and knowledge regarding disability, and to become more equipped to participate in and advocate for inclusive schools and communities.
Section Expectation
You will be expected to attend all class sessions and engage in small group book club circles. Course assignments include weekly reading reflections, an individualized research project, weekly homework assignments, and a midterm. Students will a wide variety of background knowledge and experience regarding disability take this course! No matter what type of experience you bring to class, you will be invited to think about disability in new ways and engage in actions within your own community that lead to increased inclusion of people with and without disabilities.
