Book for discussion: Becoming an Everyday Changemaker by Alex Shevrin Venet. Book divided into 4 reading segments, students read & reflect on one segment each week. Optional synchronous group discussions, times TBD.

Schools should be places that support students and educators as full human beings. However, as educators, it’s often hard to know where to start or how to advance change within our schools. As Alex Shevrin Venet, the author of this session’s book illuminated, “How we move through school change matters.” In this second book club session we will focus on the process of creating trauma-informed, equity-focused change in schools, discussing skills, strategies, and tools that we can use as educators to make change within our own contexts.

Weeks 1-3 Weekly reading of ~70 pages Weekly discussion posts and responses to peers Week 4 Digital presentation showcasing your plan for applying your learning from the text and discussions (Presentation format options will be provided in week 1) Feedback on peer presentations After the registration period ends, I will reach out to enrolled students to gauge interest and availability in a synchronous discussion and/or presentation session. This may be in lieu of online posting.
