Section Description
Probability with Statistics is a course designed to explore and understand the role that statistics play in our everyday lives. We’ll begin the course by looking at the ways that statistics are used and collected in our society through sampling and study design. The second portion of the class will be devoted to ways that data can be displayed through graphs, summarized numerically, and studied as distributions. The third portion of the class will be devoted to understanding the basics of probability and probability distributions. Finally the last portion of the class will deal with generalizing sample statistics to the population through confidence intervals and hypothesis testing. A good amount of our investigation will be done by reading and analyzing real world news and statistical reports, and activities. You are required to obtain a calculator capable of doing powers and square roots. I recommend a TI-83 or TI-84 if possible…these are very easy to use and have some really neat statistical features! The textbooks is online when you purchase your access to Sapling, the WH Freeman online homework portal. NOTE: This class is not for preparation to taking a statistics class number 141 or higher.
Section Expectation
The usual for online courses (constant online presence) and keeping up with the work.
