This course is a 1cr companion to Biol 004. It provides an introduction to basic Life Science concepts with a focus on the structure and function of Human Organ Systems. It is presented using a series of online Laboratory Exercises on topics ranging from basic chemistry, cell biology, genetics and organ system function, such as respiration and cardiac activity. These exercises help to demonstrate the concept of Homeostasis as well as how that property can be disrupted in disease states. This course is designed for non-science majors and those whose particular field of study requires some foundational material pertaining to human health. It is not a “stand-alone” offering. It must be coupled to its companion Biol 004 “The Human Body” which is a pre or co-requisite in order to obtain credit.
