About STAT 141 H

Foundational course for students taking further quantitative courses. Exploratory data analysis, probability distributions, estimation, hypothesis testing. Introductory regression, experimentation, contingency tables, and nonparametrics. Computer software used. Credit not awarded for more than one of STAT 141 or STAT 143.

Section Description

This 3 credit hour lecture course is a foundation course for students taking further statistical courses. Topics for univariate and bivariate data include: descriptive statistics, estimation, hypothesis testing, regression, study design, probability, and probability distributions. Statistical technology information provided in Blackboard.

Section Expectation

• Late Work: All work is expected to be completed on-time. Make-up tests will be given if an emergency arises and I am contacted before the exam. The exam must be taken within 48 hours. • Absences: If you are missing class due to a serious personal/health issue and you believe that the circumstances require some flexibility in course expectations, you must contact your college’s Student Services. Once I receive their documentation, I will consider their recommendations for adjusting course expectations. If you are missing class due to a University sponsored activity, you must provide an official University letter outlining the dates and purpose. I will determine if any adjustments to course expectations will be necessary. • Laptops, Cell phones, iPhones, iPods, iAnything: To be respectful of the learning environment, it is expected that none of these items will be out or turned on in the classroom. These items are forbidden to be out during an examination.

Evaluation

Your final grade will be a weighted average of MyStatLab Readings, MyStatLabQuizzes, 2 exams throughout the semester, and a comprehensive final exam.
