202209 new BSAD majors; Though most of instruction will be synchronous online, students will be expected to attend in-person Career Readiness and Grossman School of Business Events throughout the semester.

Section Description

The Professional Development Series and PEAKS (Professional Engagement and Knowledge System) work together to offer GSB students the opportunity to explore engagement, career/professional preparedness and to start building a professional skill set. BSAD 002 and the Explorer credential are integrated components, designed to help you learn about and explore the undergraduate experience at the Grossman School of Business and UVM. Course Objectives: * Create foundation for success including information literacy skills, academic support and professional development tools. *Develop personal goals for college and beyond. *Recognize the importance and impact of diversity, equity and inclusiveness on your professional, academic and personal life. *Engage with GSB faculty, staff, alums, and colleagues. *Understand the importance of getting involved in a variety of co-curricular programs and experiential learning opportunities at the Grossman School of Business and UVM. *Establish your career portfolio with your resume, your online profiles and more.

Section Expectation

There is no required text for this course. The course is based on speakers, professional development seminars, engagement opportunities and projects. All course readings, resources, announcements and updates will be posted on Blackboard and the PEAKS app. The PEAKS app will allow you to track your progress toward completing the 002/Explorer requirements. Blackboard will be used for all course materials including any announcements, cancellations or updates. All class materials will be posted including the syllabus, assignment information, readings and course resources

Evaluation

1 credit course; Final grade is Satisfactory/Unsatisfactory + completion of the PEAKS Explorer badge
