Section Description

Rapidly evolving global workplaces require business professionals utilize a variety of communication skills to succeed. Professional success often rests on the ability to listen, engender trust, adapt to cultural differences, and consider the perspectives of others. This is a basic business communications class which emphasizes the skills needed to be a competent communicator and will help students develop these skills through group presentations, video recordings, self-critiques, business writing assignments, and pitch presentations. Learn the fundamentals of communicating for professional success, verbal and nonverbal messaging, communicating with cultural proficiency, stages and styles of effective listening, running effective meetings, professional networking, writing across media, and planning and crafting presentations. Master important communication concepts that will help you succeed in today's competitive business world and in your personal life. The intense four-week format of the course is a blended learning environment of synchronous and asynchronous learning. Each week our class will meet on Tuesday from 9:30 – 11am online using TEAMS for lecture, presentations, and discussion of the weekly module goals and objectives. This means that you are responsible to attend all four online classes as well as the last day of on-line class to take the final exam 6/16.
