Section Description
Business Law 118 is intended to provide students with a broad overview of several areas of U.S. law that commonly affect businesses. (Business Law 117, a Fall Semester course, is NOT a prerequisite for BSAD 118.) The course is not designed to turn students into lawyers. Rather, the goal is to familiarize students with general outlines of business law, enough to avoid obvious problems once they begin their careers and enough to know when to call their lawyers. Specific topics include agency, employment law, partnerships and corporations, financing, property, security interests, insurance and consumer protection.
Section Expectation
While the format is predominantly lecture-based, this course works best when students are engaged, ask questions, and come prepared to class by doing the assigned reading.
Evaluation
Grades are based upon three (3) exams (inclusive of the final), and class participation.
