Art Studio: Drawing

Introductory study of visual experience through drawing and its transformation of the three-dimensional visual world onto a two-dimensional surface. Emphasis varies with Instructor.

Drawing has always been a fundamental part of art making. However, in the last several years drawing has gained credibility as an established method of creating finished artworks. Drawing 001 is an introduction to the methods, materials, and concepts involved in drawing. We will work from observation and from research. A lab fee covers the cost of materials. The lab fee for the class covers most of the materials we will be using throughout the semester.

Students should be interested in learning various processes that can create drawings. Students do not need prior drawing experience to participate in this class. Part of the course structure will include critiques in which students will be asked to discuss each other’s projects in conjunction with presenting their own work.

Evaluation: Completion of assigned projects, participation in synchronous critiques and meetings
