Section Description
CHIN 002 Elementary Chinese II is a continuation of CHIN 001 Elementary Chinese I, seeking to develop students' communicating ability in the skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing in simple Chinese. Topics included are food, clothing, time, dates, eating out, birthdays, locations, etc. By the end of the semester, students will get fully ready for CHIN 051 Intermediate Chinese I.
Section Expectation
Meet three times a week in the classroom on MWF. Learn and practice listening, speaking, and reading online on Thursday. Do assigned homework regularly. Practice speaking in class and practice writing basic characters after class. Textbook: Essential College Chinese Book 1, published by Beijing Language and Culture University Press and Phoenix Tree Publishing Company, ISBN 9787561950296
Evaluation
Grades are based on attendance, participation, homework, quizzes, and a final exam.
