Section Description

This class will explore a broad range of topics related to sexual health, sexual rights and sexuality in “helping professions” such as Social Work. This course will utilize Intersectionality, Critical Race Theory, Reproductive Justice and other anti-racist , anti-oppressive and sex positive frameworks through which to explore a wide range of issues ranging from anatomy and reproduction to sexual pleasure and fetishes. Sexually explicit material is a significant component of this class. We will explore connections of said content to human service-related praxis. Triggering and upsetting content related to sexual violence will likely emerge in the classroom through discussion and course content/materials. There are no per-requisites for this course and students from all disciplines and majors are welcome.

Section Expectation

This is an asynchronous, online course. There are no live sessions and students are tasked with completing weekly tasks/activities/assignments.


There are no quizzes or exams. All assessments/evaluation will be based on online student engagement and written activities/assignments. Students will have an opportunity to explore their own interests related to sex, sexuality, sexual health and "helping professions" through written work.
