Section Description

This course focuses on the fundamentals of clinical leadership and management, with particular emphasis on organizational design, problem solving, communication, and change theories. Strategies for human resource management, project management, quality improvement, productivity, and ensuring financial viability will be presented along with techniques for defining and measuring organizational performance. Other topics include laboratory certification, compliance, government regulations, and accreditation.

Section Expectation

Upon completion of the course, students will have demonstrated the ability to: Describe and critically reflect on roles and functions of managers and leaders. Analyze and critique the financial aspects of health care and health care information technology Describe and critique different models of healthcare management theory and project management. Describe and critique different models of Quality Improvement and Quality Control. Demonstrate understanding of techniques for decision-making, problems solving, leading, and communicating. Self-assess their personal leadership and management style. Develop and demonstrate the ability to critically think about a healthcare management issue, develop a feasible solution, and present the project in a coherent manner to a group of colleagues.
