Winter Session course; Dates: Jan 4 - Jan 29, 2021; Students will begin their practicum on January 18th, 2021; Remote Pre-work required
Course Description: This course is designed to provide student teachers with foundational knowledge and skills needed to support all learners in a remote teaching context. Taken in conjunction with the Spring student teaching experience, this course will provide candidates with the opportunity to connect with their field placement sites prior to the February 1st UVM Spring 2021 start date.
Expected Outcomes/Assignments: • Students will complete the following Six Professional Development Modules in the Blackboard Discussion Board area: o Building Community in Remote Learning o Cultural Responsiveness o Defining Equity o Remote Project Based Learning o Trauma Informed Practice o Scaffolding • Students will document hours in the field for their full-time internship in the Blackboard Discussion Board area: o January 18th-January 22nd (Full days) o January 25th-January 29th (Full days)
Assessment/Grading: Due to the short duration of the course, it will be graded as either “Satisfactory/Passing” (SP) or “Unsatisfactory/Not Passing” (UP). At the end of the spring semester, the SP or UP will be converted to the same letter grade that is obtained for the full spring student teaching internship. • To receive a grade of SP, all outcomes specified above must be completed • If any of the components are not submitted, this will result in a grade of UP and the inability to continue the student teaching internship
