Section Description
Wondering how to make the leap from liberal arts major to employed graduate? This course is for you! Learn the art of naming your knowledge and skills. Learn to write a great resume, and how to approach potential employers. This course makes preparing for life after UVM a little less overwhelming, by creating a structured framework for making decisions and taking action--and getting help along the way from your campus and personal networks.
Section Expectation
Our main units involve 1) reflecting on your experiences and articulating your goals 2) working on effective resumes and 3) working on effective cover letters and interview preparation. Expect daily reading and short writing assignments, and peer response sessions in the resume and cover letter sections of the course.
Evaluation
The course grade is divided between participation in the discussion board, completion of daily short assignments and the longer resume and cover letter assignments, and participation in peer response. The grading system functions as a contract, with points awarded for completion of work in order to make our course conversations focused on personal progress for each student.
