Students will be expected to complete 60 hours of directed observation experience in the athletic training setting, or as assigned by the Instructor.

This course is designed for students interested in the professional of athletic training. Students will be exposed to the AT setting, AT students, and numerous certified ATs. Students are expected to complete 60 hours of directed observation in AT.
1. Students will complete 60 hours of directed observation of the athletic training setting. a. Rotations for the directed observation of athletic trainers will be assigned by the instructor. 2. Students will make connections with upper-level mentors in the AT Program and meet numerous certified ATs. 3. Student will become familiar with the procedures and protocols for the athletic training rooms. 4. Students will gain exposure to a range of injuries and illnesses. 5. Students describe federal and state infection control regulations and guidelines, including universal precautions as mandated by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), for the prevention, exposure, and control of infectious diseases, and discuss how they apply to the practicing of athletic training. a. This training must be completed and passed prior to beginning observation experience.
