About ARTS 230 A

Students conceive, research, develop, and realize their own projects in the print studio. Prerequisites: ARTS 131 or ARTS 132 or ARTS 134; minimum Junior standing.

Prereqs enforced by the system: ARTS 131 or 132 or 134; or Instructor permission; Minimum Junior standing; $150 Lab Fee; SART, AHST, ARTE Majors; ARTS, AHST Minors only; Restrictions to be lifted the Monday following Registration; Open to Degree and CDE students.

Section Description

Students will conceptualize, plan and execute a project using methods of printmaking previously learned in either ARTS 132: Silkscreen or ARTS 195- Printmaking: Woodcut. Projects can range in scale from installation to artists' books. This class will be delivered in MIXED modality. Class instruction will be remote and in person in the printshop, depending upon safe practices due to Covid 19 restrictions.

Section Expectation

Students will be expected to apply and develop methods of printmaking previously learned in printmaking classes (ARTS 132: Silkscreen and ARTS 195 Printmaking: Woodcut) to the production of their project. Students will be guided on how to conceptualize and devise a project, how to problem solve using printmaking and how to execute and complete their project in 15 weeks.

Evaluation

Students will be evaluated on the development of their work, the ability to conceptualize and execute their project by the end of the semester and the completed work.
