Analysis of stresses in plain and reinforced concrete members; design of reinforced concrete structures; theory of prestressed concrete; project-based. Prerequisite: CE 170.
Prereqs enforced by the system: CE 170; Design or Technical Elective for CE majors if have already taken CE 172; Open to Degree and CDE students
This course focuses on reinforced concrete structure design. Course objectives include: 1. Introduce the design theory of reinforced concrete structures. 2. Analyze stresses in plain and reinforced concrete members. 3. Use codes to design reinforced concrete structures
This course combines lecture and design projects. Students should expect to spend 6-8 hours a week on coursework outside of class, with additional time for the course project.
Grades are based on attendance and participation, weekly assignments, a midterm exam, and a final project.
