Section Description

NOTE: This is an introductory level course to the basics of health and fitness. It assumes no prior experience in health and wellness. Students looking for more advanced knowledge and application should seek a more advanced course. This course is designed to educate and guide the student through a series of exercise tutorials to increase knowledge about exercise participation for weight loss and overall fitness. The course is self-guided and has optional activity. Course content includes aerobic fitness, strength training, caloric expenditure calculation, flexibility, fitness assessment, heart rate training, keeping an exercise diary, etc. Please note: the labs are optional and are designed to enhance your educational experience only and are not collected or graded in this class. Please note also that we do not give personal exercise advice as part of this class.


Ongoing assessments: Following each presentation you will have a short multiple choice quiz to take online. These quizzes are graded weekly and will comprise 75% of your grade. Final exam is worth 25% of the class grade: This is a multiple choice exam designed to assess your knowledge of the materials presented during the weekly lessons. The final exam is comprehensive.
