About ENVS 150 TR1

Travel study courses examining environmental issues from a local ecological, political, and socioeconomic perspective using experiential learning methods in diverse sites. Prerequisite: One of the following: ENVS 001, ENVS 002, NR 001, NR 002, ENSC 001.

Section Description

Denmark is recognized as a world leader in energy and sustainability transition and its capital city, Copenhagen, is recognized as a model of urban sustainability in the areas of waste, green buildings, and bicycle transportation. For two weeks, students will engage with Danish approaches to achieving a decarbonized and circular energy and material economy. Students will experience Danish approaches through field studies and Danish experts and critically examine the socioecological drivers behind the success and failure of Danish projects in sustainability and energy transition.

Section Expectation

Students are expected to meet 2x, in mid April and early May, before class meets in Copenhagen. While in Denmark, students are expected to engage in all elements of the course and follow UVM Travel Study policies.

Evaluation

Reflective assignments, group project with Vermont partners, reading assignments, and discussion.
