One-semester survey of principles and concepts of general chemistry, topics covered include bonding, mole ratios, equilibrium, and nuclear chemistry. NO LABORATORY. May not be taken for credit concurrently with, or following receipt of, credit for CHEM 023, CHEM 031 or CHEM 035.

A six-week survey of general chemistry principles, including dimensional analysis, elements & compounds, the mole concept, solution & gaseous properties, and acid/base chemistry
The course is a lecture format meeting Tuesday-Thursday with Friday supplemental Instruction sessions with a TA. students should expect to spend 8-10 hours (out-of-class time) per week in consistent study and problem-solving. Solving recommended text problems is the best way to do this.
Students will be evaluated with three mid-term exams, a final exam, and an online (BlackBoard) quiz average.
