Section Description

Exploration of philosophy of science, theory, and development of nursing knowledge. Nursing and non-nursing philosophies and theories relevant to advanced nursing practice will be discussed. 1. Students will gain an understanding and appreciation of nursing theory 2. Students will identify a nursing theory or theories that will guide current nursing and future advanced practice nursing. 3. Students will apply existing theory or theories to guide resolution of current issues in nursing.

Section Expectation

This course is all presented in an online format. This is a 3-credit course over a six-week period. In this condensed format, students should anticipate a workload of around 15-20 hours/week. Students are expected to be active participants in BlackBoard discussions and group projects.

Evaluation

A midterm paper, final paper, participation on discussion boards, and group projects are required in this course.
