12-Week Online Program
Tuition: $1,320 Non-Credit track
$1,968-$4,920 Credit track
This online course is designed primarily for radiologic technologists who would like to learn more about MRI physics with the goal of becoming an MR technologist. In addition, it would also potentially be very useful for current MR technologists who will be taking ARRT board exams in the future or would simply benefit from a more comprehensive and coherent MR physics training. Students in adjacent fields (biomedical engineering, radiological assistants) may also find this practical physics course highly valuable. Textbook readings will be combined with supplemental 3D animations and video lectures, flexible tutoring time with the instructor, as well as homework exercises specifically intended to either prepare you for the ARRT exam or develop practical skills for working as an MR technologists. Despite the online format, the instructor offers a weekly individual check-in discussion to help ensure that students are successfully progressing in the course.
This is the first in a series of courses in development for the education of future MR technologists. The other courses will include Cross Sectional Anatomy and Pathology (taught by UVM radiologists), MRI Lab (in the UVM MRI research lab), and MRI Practicum. The goal is to establish an efficient and effective path to better prepare all future MR technologists. For successfully completing this course with a grade of C or better, the ARRT grants 48 (Category A) CE credits. See the ARRT website for more details.
