Things to Do Before Class
Activate Your Net ID
UVM creates an e-mail account for all students. Go to this account website to activate your official account, receive your Net ID and learn about the different options for reading and forwarding your mail, in addition to accessing online courses. You will be able to read your email online, or you can set up your account to automatically forward your UVM email to another account you may already be using.
Important messages from UVM, such as class cancellation notices and electronic tuition bills, will only be sent to this e-mail address.
Pick Up Your UVM ID
Your CATcard is your permanent ID and is required to check out library materials, access residence halls and purchase meals via the meal plan. Your CATcard is available after you have registered for classes and is reactivated automatically each semester when you enroll in a course.
Learn more about the CATcard at this website.
Parking Permits
Parking for residential students will be in the Converse Hall lot. More information will be available February 24 when registration for summer medical housing opens.
View Campus Map
Use the online campus map to become familiar to UVM.
Buy Your Books
Textbooks and other supplies may be purchased online or in person through the UVM Bookstore. The online ordering system usually is available two weeks before the start of a summer course, and closes a few days before classes begin. Please note: Returns are accepted within three working days of purchase with a receipt for summer textbooks.
Summer hours for the bookstore: Monday - Friday, 8am to 4:30pm, with extended hours at the beginning of each summer session and for other events throughout the summer.
To contact the bookstore, call (800) 331-7303 or (802) 656-3290; visit their website or send an < a href="mailto:uvm.bookstore@uvm.edu">e-mail.
Connecting to the UVM Libraries
Your coursework probably will require you to use the UVM libraries (both the Dana Medical Library and general library), either in person or online. Visit the library's website to learn more about the resources available, such as the library catalog, databases, course reserves and other services.
If you are connecting to the library from off-campus, click on "Connect from Off Campus" and follow the instructions for setting up your proxy server or downloading the VPN client.
You will need your CATcard to sign out library materials, check your library records, renew your library books, or to recall materials from other users. You will need your Net ID and password to access online library resources including electronic reserves.
If you have questions about the services and resources at the UVM Libraries, please contact Douglas Lehman at 656-0890 or e-mail him.
Library hours are posted at this page.
Pay Your Bill and Check Your Student Account
Go to web page to learn about your options for paying your bill and viewing your student account. All account balances must be paid before future course registration and receipt of grades, transcripts, or diplomas.
