Q: What is the minimum age to stay on campus?
A: Students must be at least 16 as of June 21, 2009 to stay on-campus.

Q: Who Should Attend?
A: The intensive nature of this course makes it ideal for people who LOVE to sing and perform, whether you are preparing for a career, or want to be involved in musical theater productions on a regional level.  Students are divided into groups by age [12-14, 15-17, 18+], enabling instructors to work intensively with all participants at the appropriate level.  The program is available to anyone at least 12 years of age by the program start date (June 21, 2009) and is open to teens as well as adults.  All students should have a strong interest in musical theater and basic vocal skills of matching pitch and carrying a tune. Experience in musical theater productions is helpful.

Q: How do I register
A: Registration opens February 17, 2009.  New participants must first fill out an application form and be accepted into the program before registering.  Instructions on how to register can be found here

Q: Where do classes meet?
A: All classes and activities will take place on the University of Vermont campus.  The headquarters for the class will be Royall Tyler Theater at 116 University Place (East of the University Green).  Class begins with Check-in and an Orientation at Royall Tyler Theater the evening of Sunday, June 21.  Campus maps and directions can be found at http://uvm.edu/about_uvm/maps_directions/.  Maps of the Burlington area can be found at http://www.bluemap.com.

Q: How will I be supervised?
A: UVM will provide adult supervision for all classes and program activities that are part of the program.  Roll call will be taken and students are expected to be in attendance for all roll calls. However, students will not be supervised while moving around on campus between dining halls, classrooms, residence halls and other campus facilities.

For supervision of residential students, please visit the Summer Academic Housing website

Q: I am a credit student.  How will I be billed for my tuition?
A: (Electronic Billing via UVM EMAIL ONLY)
UVM sends tuition and fee bills electronically to your UVM email address. You must activate and check your UVM email regularly or forward it to pay your bill and avoid late fees. If you need a paper bill, please print your bill from the online billing system found at uvm.edu/studentlogin or call Student Financial Services at 802.656.3170 for assistance. Please visit uvm.edu/studentfinances for detailed information on how to pay your bill electronically and viewing your student account. All account balances must be paid prior to future course registration and to receive semester grades, transcripts and certificates. Bills not paid by the due date may incur a $200 late fee.

Q: How will I receive my grade and transcript?
Grades are posted online at http://www.uvm.edu/registrar/  Please visit http://registrar.uvm.edu/transcripts.html to learn how to obtain a transcript.

Q: What should I bring?
A: Discipline, courage, humor, imagination and your willingness to open and grow.  Tuition for the course includes all materials and activities associated with the program. Due to the nature of the course, we suggest bringing comfortable clothes to move in and a water bottle to keep hydrated.  There may be opportunities for purchases and activities not associated with the program, so you may want to bring a small amount of cash for these extras.  Those planning to purchase lunch on-campus should definitely bring cash.  Dinner will not be available for purchase by cash.  Students taking private lessons must plan in advance for dinner meals by either pre-purchasing them during Program Registration or bringing their own dinner.  Please see Tuition and Fees for details.

To get the most out of your Musical Theater Intensive experience, we highly suggest bringing a recordable ipod, tape recorder or another type of recording device.

Q: Is there any preparation necessary?
A: You should prepare and memorize (2) songs in advance of your arrival: (1) ballad and (1) up-tempo, in legit and/or belt style.  Please bring sheet music for each song (for the accompanist). Email Bill Reed billreed@theatricalsinger.com if you have questions about repertoire.
