Calculus I is an introduction to the calculus of functions of one variable. This will include an understanding of the concepts of limits, continuity, the definition of the derivative, and the Fundamental Theorem of Calculus; techniques and applications of differentiation; and basic integration, including integration by substitution. Topics will be presented with a level of depth and rigor appropriate for students pursuing degrees in technical fields such as mathematics, statistics, engineering, or the physical sciences. The computer algebra system Mathematica will be used throughout the course. A strong background in algebra and pre-calculus, including trigonometry, is a necessary pre-requisite for the course. Students with insufficient preparation in secondary school mathematics should take MATH 10 prior to enrolling in MATH 021.

Required Course Materials:

You will need the paperback or eBook version of the required text, and an access card for Enhanced WebAssign online homework.
