This Service Learning event planning course provides students with the basic knowledge and skills related to event planning. Working with a community partner to plan a public event in Burlington, students will gain hands-on experience in budgeting, sponsorship, fundraising, promotions, licensing/branding, activity scheduling, logistics, and volunteer management as they create a schedule, and promotion and management plan for the event. (CDAE PCom students who also enroll in the spring Public Communication Capstone can continue the strategic planning and assist with the coordination and logistics of the actual event, which is scheduled for Feb. 6-7.)
