Spring 2010
This travel course provides a unique opportunity to experience places where significant events and people in both the blues and Civil Rights movements originated and to learn about these from an instructor who participated in the latter and has known and worked with many blues musicians, scholars and documentarians. The bulk of this course consists of an 8-day (plus 2 travel days) trip to Memphis and the Mississippi Delta that will take place in January, 2010. This will be preceded by a 3-hour classroom session during the Fall, 2009 semester. This course will have a Blackboard site containing information, links to e-resersve readings, exercises, and media materials.
