Spring 2009

We'll explore the field of Performance Art by looking at work by 20th and 21st Century performance artists Lorraine O'Grady, Yves Klein, Piero Manzoni, Carolee Schneeman, Pape Colon, Ann Carlson, and others. We'll create new multi-media interdisciplinary work based on Identity to push the boundaries of Performance. Visual Arts, Film/Digital Media, Dance, Creative Writing, Physics, Sociology-- bring your discipline! Students will create new work, write 3 process papers of 3- 5 pages each, and engage in discussion about the readings, and the creative process.
