About HST 096 WQ2

This course explores the experiences of both white and black women during the American Civil War as recorded first hand by the women themselves in their letters, journals, published work, and photographs. The Library of Congress and the National Archives are two of the on-line websites used in the course. There will be short secondary source readings selected to provide a context for studying women’s lives during this era. Assessment methods for the course grade: written journal assignments, discussion, and a final essay.
