Section Description

An introduction to all aspects of contemporary standard German. Why German? German and English are both Germanic languages. They share many of the same words, word origins, and grammatical characteristics. That makes German a good choice for English speakers. With German, students gain access to an important intellectual, economic and culturally historic area of Central Europe. The objective of Elementary German is to develop language skills that enable students to communicate effectively in basic everyday situations. This is the first semester of a two-semester Elementary German course.
