Laboratory experiences include practical concepts of molecular applications. Introduces basic methods used in DNA and Protein technology including plasmid isolation, polymerase chain reaction, restriction enzyme use, and related assays. Prerequisite: CHEM 042 or CHEM 141. Co-requisite: MLRS 281.

Section Description

The practical concepts of molecular applications will be experienced in the laboratory. These sessions will introduce basic methods used in DNA technology including plasmid isolation, polymerase chain reaction, restriction enzyme use, and related assays. There will be DNA sequencing, real-time PCR, and DNA microarray demonstrations during visits to UVM or UVMMC facilities on selected days.
