Whether you’ve been in the field for years or have recently entered the industry, the changes coming with healthcare reform require a new understanding of how to lead during a time of complex change. As leaders, you navigate a landscape that requires the management of systems, people, process and technology. From effective strategic planning to creating a culture of employee engagement, this certificate explores the dynamics of healthcare management through the lens of health care reform. After completing this series of 9 one-day seminars, participants will be able to:

- Understand how issues of health care and public policy impact your organization.
- Ensure trusting relationships are built with partners and customers through ethical behavior and compliance with regulation.
- Analyze and use data and information to inform leadership decisions and assess effectiveness of strategic plans and operational processes.

Instructors of the professional certificate program are themselves working professionals in the health care sector, with diverse backgrounds and valuable perspectives. Their numerous vantages on health care and reform offer participants a broad lens on this complex issue. The instructors represent viewpoints from hospital administration and information technology departments, legal counsels, independent organizations and the University of Vermont, providing participants networking opportunities with leaders in many aspects of the industry.
The certificate is offered annually in fall, with the potential to run more frequently based on demand. The 2013 program launches in October. Completion of the certificate program afford participants demonstrable evidence of staying current in one’s field while gaining valuable knowledge and skills, applicable after each seminar in the series. A Certificate of Achievement is awarded to those who take all 9 seminars. Students may enroll in individual seminars as well as the full series of offerings.
