Students should have fluency in the Microsoft Office Professional group of applications, including Access. They may obtain this through course instruction, work experience, or self-instruction.
Pre-MBA Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need to apply to the sequence?
There is no application process for the sequence. You simply register for a particular course when it’s offered.Courses have enrollment limits, so we encourage you to enroll early. You should possess a bachelor’s degree before applying for the MBA Program.
Where are classes offered?
Courses are offered through Continuing Education. Some courses in the sequence are available online while others are offered on the main UVM Campus in Burlington.
Do I have to complete the four prerequisite courses before I apply for admission to UVM’s MBA Program?
No, you can apply and be accepted to the Graduate College. The courses just need to be completed prior to enrollment.

Small, High Quality Program: Approximately 75 students.
Full-time or Part-Time Options: About 1/3 are full-time and 2/3 are part-time.

Why it’s hot: Obtaining a master’s in business administration can be one of the quickest ways to jump start your career. Careers: Although a stagnant economy has led to a decrease in the number of positions in investment banking and manufacturing, the market for MBAs remains hot in the areas of accounting, marketing, management, consulting, financial analysis, commercial banking, healthcare, insurance, information systems and portfolio management.
UVM’s program: Our pre-MBA sequence allows you to fulfill the necessary prerequisites for UVM’s MBA Program, the only such program in Vermont accredited by the AACSB, the national U.S. accrediting organization for master’s degree programs in business. All five courses are geared toward working adults, meeting in the evenings on campus or online. Two-thirds of the students in the MBA Program attend part time.
